(What are we seeking to do and what will it look like?)
The central function for which God has created us is this: to WORSHIP Him. Therefore, worship is our highest duty, our deepest delight and our top priority. We seek to make our worship joyful, understandable and thought-provoking in a way that draws others to participate. Our lives are changed as we worship the God who saves, guides, and loves His people through Jesus Christ. We place a strong emphasis on teaching and learning the Scriptures, as they are the way in which God reveals Himself to us, telling us what we need to know about Him and how we are to live for Him. This also means that the Scriptures guide our worship of God in a way that is pleasing to Him.
We place a high value on relationships and desire to see them built and strengthened. We seek to create an atmosphere of community where people feel welcomed, listened to, encouraged and loved. We are a church where those who question the Christian faith can openly inquire and dialogue in an honest, casual and non-threatening way. For this reason, our emphasis in ministry is on relationships rather than programs. We strongly encourage every member to utilize their gifts by serving in a ministry of the church.
Christianity speaks to each individual but it is not only a “personal thing”; it is a message of hope for the world. Our Christian faith should have an active presence in the culture in which we live. We must encourage and equip one another to be a Christian witness within our public spheres of influence. The Scriptures tell us it is through the church that God’s wisdom is made known (Ephesians 3:10). For this reason, we seek to be a church that plants new churches in York County and around the world.
